The Voice of the Master

Listen closely.

Our sweet little Schnauzer, knows the voice of his master (my very own Mr. Tall Dark and Handsome) and loves to draw near to his face to hear every word. He takes in each word and the tone in which it is spoken. Obviously, he isn’t capable of understanding everything that is said, but he listens intently nonetheless. He stretches his little head as close as possible (just short of kissing distance) to both hear, and be certain of eye contact (that way he knows the words are for him). Mr. TD&H relishes the moments too and speaks words of kindness to our beloved friend. Each reassured of the devotion of the other, it is a precious sight that they recreate often throughout the day.

How much more does our Master desire our attention and desire to speak words of kindness to us? His love is apparent. We can see His provision in the creation all around us. The sun, the water, the very air we breathe is all because of His loving-kindness to us. His Word is written and preserved for us to remind us of that very fact. While we may not understand every word, we can be assured of His love toward us.

As sweet little Smokey is desirous of the attention his Master all through the day, our desire should be toward The Master. His words are precious and tender - full of assurance for those who know Him. Have you drawn near to the face of The Master lately? He wants you to know Him, and of His great love for you.

Our dear Father in heaven, how we cherish the Word You have given to us. In it we learn about You and Your nature of holiness, and of Your love toward us unlike any other. As we draw near to Your face, and look into your eyes of love and compassion, help us to ever desire to be closer to You, to long for a deeper understanding of You. Thank You for holding us near. I specifically pray for the one reading this right now, that they will seek out, recognize and hear Your precious voice.

To hear His word read His Book, The Holy Bible. It is full of great treasure, written from His love for you! What special words do you like to hear? Are there passages you go to time after time? One of mine is from the third chapter of Philippians. "One thing I do; forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus."

Another is Hebrews 12:1 "Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance, and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us."
